Can they put braces on without extracting my wisdom teeth?

I should be getting braces soon. But all of my wisdom teeth are pushed about half-way. Would they have to extract them or can the braces go on as is?

  1. The orthodontist will most likely want them extracted. The wisdom teeth can push on your other teeth and make them crooked, which totally defeats the purpose of braces.
