Ok so just got spacers abuot 2 weeks ago and they hurt ry bad!!! So are my questions:
1- On scale of 1 to 10, 10 the worst, how do braces hurt after you get them in?
2- How does it hurt compared to spacers?
3- Reccomended colors?

I didn't have a problem with spacers – then again I only had 2 spacers in between my molars (1 on each side) in order to make room for my expander (I have the kind that only uses 2 teeth in total for anchorage and you don't have to turn). The expanders were just annoying in that I would be chewing on the rubber (it would stick up) although close to the third day they were starting to irritate me and hurt a little bit.
The braces themselves didn't hurt that much either. It only hurts afterwards when you go and try and chew a hard piece of food!
I would rate the spacers as a 2 just because they were incredibly annoying and the braces as a 4 only because of attempting to eat "normal" food right away (trust me, it wasn't a pretty sight!). The worst was when I got in my 2 elastics to close the gaps where my teeth were pulled (had 2 teeth pulled on both side of my mouth on the upper jaw) – that night I didn't sleep much only because of the pain of the elastics and the expander and I didn't have any ibprofen on hand at the time.
As for colours, it doesn't really matter. Mine are sort of "blah" as in no colour, but colours are honestly the least of my worries!
The part that will hurt is when they put on a thicker guage wire and tighten them! Especially when they have to unclip part of the bracket to take the wire out!! It also may hurt if your teeth are all over the place…I just got my bottoms on the other day and couldn't sleep because I have one tooth that got pushed out a bit and that tooth hurt for about 48 hours. Ibprofen will be your best friend!!!
